The Site
Author-Database.com originated as a bookstore resource. Cherry Collins, the owner of Dreamalot Books, spent almost two years putting together the initial database with the vague intention to eventually publish it on her store website, www.dreamalotbooks.com. Later on as a result of brainstorming with store volunteer, J. A. Kerns, the vague intention became a realizable goal. Kerns suggested instead of being an addition to the bookstore website that the Author Database get a site all its own. Thus www.author-database.com was born into the Internet World on October 25, 2007. The site is designed to supply the general public with free printable author and series booklists. While there are other sites online that provide a similar service most charge a subscription fee and none allows their patrons to contribute. The staff of Author-Database.com realized very quickly that to have any resemblance of accuracy to our lists we would need help with the research. Who better than the people using the database? The patrons are the ones who will know which list needs revising and who needs to be added. The Dreamalot Books Library Program is brought to you courtesy of Cherry Collins and her father, Dexter Greene of DYG Software. It too was originally designed for bookstore use, but we thought it to be a perfect compliment to the Author-Database website. As to the rest of the Author-Database staff, we must include and give thanks to all the authors listed and to be listed for contributing the material for the lists used and all the members of the book loving community that help gather the information.
